Adventures for the Kids - Model Steam Trains

It is amazing how little it takes to put a smile on a child's face. We often spend endless sums of money getting the latest toy or gadget and going on expensive overseas holiday, in the hope that we will bring some joy and excitement to our children.

However, the toys generally end up gathering dust on the shelves after a few day's play and young children seldom seem to appreciate the experience of an overseas holiday.

Last Saturday we made a detour to the Pietermaritzburg Model Steam Engine Club, where R20 buys you four rides on the back of a Model Steam Train. The track is well designed and has an authentic feel to it. It goes through cuttings, in Tunnels and under Bridges and each ride lasts about 5 minutes.

The kids had a huge smile on their faces for the duration of the rides and have not stopped talking about the experience since. Makes you think....?

If you like trains but are looking for something a little bigger, why not have a look at the Train Trips featured on - from an original steam engine adventure, to the opulance of the World-Class Blue Train - you will find it all there.
