The Port of Durban, South Africa

The Port of Durban is South Africa’s biggest and world’s ninth largest, with origins that trace back to 1497. It was first discovered by Explorer Extraordinaire, Vasco Da Gama, who was initially drawn to what he hoped, would be the mouth of a large River. He instead found an area for safe anchorage on the coast of Natal that would later become the impetus for Durban’s early Growth. The rest as they say is history.

Today, the harbor presents a selection of enjoyable activity to choose from that include live entertainment restaurants and theater. It is also the launch point for two AdventureEscapade.co.za Flagship listings, Isle of Capri and Allure Charters.

Isle of Capri is a harbor cruise operator that offers visitors to Durban the occasion to see it, from a unique and exciting perspective. Guests are taken from the dock to various points of interest. With trips on offer that include Educational Tours, Business Cruises, Birthday Parties, Weddings and even fishing trips, fun in the sun is guaranteed.

Allure charters is a Durban based fishing charter operator, among whose accolades include, top tag and release boat for the 2003/2004 marlin season. They also hold records that pertain to size of marlin, caught off the Durban coast, a black marlin of 506 lbs as well as a blue marlin which tipped the scales at 532 lbs.
