Hey Lets Try Fishing

So it’s the long weekend again, and are you sitting there wondering what to do this weekend? Well why not give fishing a try…..

I have heard that fishing can be very therapeutic. It’s a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. I mean even though the week has been extremely short, it feels like you have done enough work for a life time in that space of time. So if you feeling anything like I am feeling, then getting away for a couple days or hours is just what the doctor ordered.

The great thing about fishing is that no matter where you are, there are places to go. If you are near the ocean, well then pop down to the beach for a good fishing session. Or if you are more inland, well then just find a dam or river close by and pack your car and head off for a bit of peace and quiet.

Fishing is a great way to relax and if you are lucky a great way to provide dinner for your family or friends. The great thing about fishing is not the amount of fish you catch or don’t catch, but it’s just a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of nature. It’s a time to enjoy some fresh air with some mates or on our own.

So why not think outside the box this weekend and give fishing a try. You can go check out our web site adventureescapades for some cool fishing spots.

As you leap off a bridge or structure, you will get a thrill of a life time. The Bloukrans is on the boarder of the Eastern and Western Cape. So if you have what it takes, why waste your time trying one of the smaller jumps, why not go straight to the big boy of Bungees.

Allow yourself to live life on the edge and be the daredevil of your family or friends. I mean come on what would life be like without a bit of fun and adventure, so its time to live a little and take the plunge. Go ahead give Bungee Jumping a try I dare you.

Adventure at its Best - River Rafting

River Rafting is one of the great outdoor activities. It is time to let go and allow the river to take you on an adventure of a life time…..

South Africa offers many great rivers which offer a variety of experiences. Each river is unique and will take you on an adventure. The best season or time for River Rafting is November and May, as these are the rainy months; the rains will cause the rivers to swell and flow, creating more technical challenges.

South Africa has many experienced and skilled River Rafting companies. So all you have to do is decide on where you want to take the leap. There are many hot spots to choose from, where you can enjoy the beauty of nature as you make you way down the river, or where you can be challenged and thrilled as you make your way through the many rapids.

River Rafting is wild ride from beginning to end. The thrill of staring into the river and daring it to throw you out of your boat. River Rafting is a thrill a minute adventure, that will leave you and your mates entertained. It is a great way to either have fun with a group of mates or to use as a team building opportunity.

So don’t be afraid and don’t allow the river to get the best of you. Take the plunge and experience the rush of River Rafting. “The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare to let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.” – Richard Bach.

Be Adventurous and try Microlighting

Microlighting the fun starts here. Microlighting is a wonderful experience; it’s a bit like being 3,000ft up in a dinning room chair….

Microlighting is one of those must do activities. It is a pure rush from start to finish and is truly a memorable experience. When conditions are good, hot and dry and plenty of thermals, it will be bumpy enough for you to know you were really up there in amongst it.

Peter Marheine is a guy from Australia who does microlight flights in NSW Australia. He is an excellent and well accomplished pilot. He takes you on a flight over local wine lands, mines and state forests. The flight leaves you feeling on top of the world as you soar above the earth. The view is totally breathtaking and as you make a perfect landing there will be a welcomed cold beer waiting for you to enjoy.

Microlighting is a safe activity to do, as no person or operator may take people up without a qualified pilot’s license. The standard of safety has increased and improved drastically over the years, making this an adventure activity not to be missed.

So why don’t you bite the bullet and suck up the courage to get out there and go for a flight. It is adventure at its best, something that you will remember and talk about for many years to come.

Sand Boarding is a Great Adventure Activity

Sandboarding will give you a pure adrenaline rush, that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face….

You can enjoy an exhilarating day carving up the sand. Sandboarding is a fun and entertaining way to spend your time. Sandboarding is similar to Snowboarding; it’s just that it takes place on Sand and not snow. So not matter if it’s hot or cold, Sandboarding is a great way to have some fun.

A sand board is much harder than a snow board, and is waxed before every run, to make the board smooth in order to glide down the sand. The record for the highest speed on a sand board belongs to Erik Johnson, who was timed at 82km/h. So if you are looking for a speed fix, then Sandboarding may just be the answer.

With the many large dunes around South Africa and in neighbouring countries Sandboarding is a growing sport that is attracting adventure enthusiasts from far and wide. So why don’t you get out there and try something new, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Sandboarding is a great way to have some fun and adventure.

Snowboarding a Downhill Experience to Remember

Snowboarding is a wild ride from beginning to end. As you clip the board on, you can begin to feel your adrenaline pumping…

Snowboarding has been inspired by Skateboarding, Surfing and Skiing. So you can imagine it appeals to the extremist and yes even those who are more cautious. What could be more fun than standing at the top of a slop, clipping on your board and just letting go and making your way down to the bottom.

The Snowboarding way of life came about by wanting to rebel against the more sophisticated skiing. So if you have a little rebel in you or have always wanted to be a little bit rebellious, well then it’s about time you gave Snowboarding a try.

Snowboarding has its danger elements, but with good safety equipment and measures in place, it has become a safe and new comer friendly sport. Snowboarding offers you a real thrilling and exhilarating experience. It will leave you feeling like a real rebel who can conquer anything. You will be known as a real extremist who has no fear.

So as winter approaches our usually sunny shores, make your way down to the various Snowboarding and Ski resorts South Africa has to offer. Go check out our site adventureescapades for more information. So come on I dare you to give Snowboarding a try.

IPL Bringing Fast Paced Action

The IPL has hit the South African shores with a bang. It is hard hitting and adrenaline pumping.

For those of you who don’t know what the IPL is, and are wondering what the big fuss is all about, well let me tell you a little about this fast pace edge of your seat action.

The IPL (known as the Indian Premier League) is a PRO20 competition put together by the Indian Cricket Board. It is the most watched domestic Twenty20 competition in the world. You may be asking why, well the reason is because the competition attracts some of the biggest names in the cricketing world. It even brings the greats like Shane Warne and Shaun Pollock out of retirement.

The IPL consists of eight teams that play each other twice in a round robin system. The tops four sides then advance to the semi finals and then the finals. Eventually leaving the one team at the top of the podium lifting the trophy. The reason why this tournament has even attracted none regular cricket watchers, is the simple fact, that it is a shortened version of the one day game. In which each side faces only 20 over’s and the object is to get as many runs as humanly possible. So it’s fast paced, with big hitting and huge action. Not only is the game itself entertaining, but also there is so much going on off the field. There are dancers, braai’s, fireworks etc at each game, creating a real festive atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

So do yourself a favour and get down to one of the IPL games that have come right to our doorsteps. You can enjoy the talents of some of the greats like, Sachin Tendulkar, Mathew Hayden, Graeme Smith, AB De Villiers, Dwayne Bravo and many more. Just be sure to take your hard hats with you, as over the boundaries in this form of the game, is classified as a “danger zone”.

Orlando Towers presents the first ever heart pumping swing between two vertical cooling towers.  It is an adventure activity of a life time and will leave adventure junkies craving more, not able to hold back from another adventure fix.  The whole experience from the lift up to the towers, to the jump itself is an adventure that will get your pulse racing. Scuba Diving the Ultimate Adventure Activity

If its variety your are looking for then South Africa is the place to be. It has an enormously long coast line, which offers great spots for Scuba diving.

The Mozambique currents flow down the east coast bringing warm tropical water with it, and at Sodwana Bay we have the most southerly coral reefs in the world. Here you will find the full complement of pretty colourful fish and some great nudibranchs, including the outrageous Spanish dancer. Whales, sharks, turtles, dolphins and ragged tooth sharks are often seen in specific areas.

The South African coast offers everything a diver could be in search of. From pretty colourful fish, to forests of kelp, to anemones ranging from electric blue to pale pink in colour. The South African coast is rich in sea life and will leave you the Scuba diver in awe and totally amazed at the beauty and wonder of our vast ocean.

If you are wondering how to go about obtaining a diving license, well wonder no more. There are dive schools in almost every centre, even in the landlocked towns and cities.  All you need to do is sign up with one of these schools and they will put you through your training and equip you in the adventure activity that is Scuba Diving.

There are many schools in South Africa which will offer great services. If you are interested in finding out any more information on Scuba Diving schools in South Africa, either check out our web site adventureescapades or visit Scuba Shack’s site.

Hot Air Ballooning Makes a Great Adventure Activity

Hot air ballooning is something really different and special. It allows you to experience the majestic scenery in an awe filled adventure.

Hot air ballooning with put you in touch with nature itself, as you set sail over the country side. As the country side is bathed in early morning light, you will glide surreally above the earth.  The silence of your flight will be broken only by nature’s early risers. Hot air ballooning allows you to experience an uninterrupted view of the beautiful and majestic land that is South Africa. Hot air ballooning has become an iconic “must do” experience in South Africa.

A hot air balloon is a type of lighter air craft, which remains aloft due to its buoyancy. It is guided by the moving wind.  Hot air balloons obtain their buoyancy by heating the air inside the balloon. They are the most common type of balloon aircraft.

Hot air ballooning is a safe activity. Flights are usually conducted in the early mornings when the winds are calm and the air is stable.  The experience is quite calm and gentle. It will leave you totally lost in your surroundings. What better way to see the beautiful country side of South Africa, than floating majestically over it in a hot air balloon.

Please check out our web site adventureescapades for more hot air ballooning details.

The thrill of cage diving

Cage driving is definitely one of the most thrilling and adventurous things out there. Well I was shocked to see that not only can you go diving with the most feared predator of the sea, but also with the most feared predator of the wild.

If you are wondering what I am talking about, well here it is. You can now go cage diving with Crocodiles. Yes that’s right, you can actually get into a cage with one of the most feared and ruthless predators known to man.

Cage diving with Crocs is relatively new and is only offered in South Africa, at the Cango Ranch in Outshoorn. Crocodile diving is defiantly not for the faint hearted, you will be diving with Nilecrocs of up to 4m long. That is sure to get your blood pumping and your heart skipping a few beats.

Cage diving whether with the Great White Shark or the ferocious Nile Crocodile, will have you feeling like you have defied death itself, going face to face with the scariest and dangerous animals known to man.  Cage diving is a once in a life time adventure, that promises to thrill you like nothing else will.

And if no of those two appeals to your wild adventurous side, well then be sure to satisfy your taste buds by watching the Sharks vs Cheetahs, this weekend.

Adventure Escapades Latest News

Well what a hectic week it’s been. We’ve experienced a few technical glitches with the blog on the site and hopefully we’ve now got all of that behind us.

Gary and Ernie have moved on to full time employment and I would like to thank them for all the time and effort they’ve put into the site. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s gone from strength to strength and judging by the number of daily enquiries our listings now receive there’s certainly a lot of busy activity owners out there.

The site statistics continue to grow at an exciting rate and the visitors are coming from further and further afield. This is great not only for the AdventureEscapades site but also for South Africa as it is proving that this is still a destination that is very high on the priority list for many adventurous souls.

The movement in the exchange rate makes South Africa a very affordable destination again and with such a lot to offer, in relatively short travelling distances, it’s certainly an attractive one for people that want to explore this southern tip of Africa.
