  • Travel in the off-season
  • Make your first stop the visitors’ information centre for brochures, free maps, discount vouchers etc
  • Stay in places that have free breakfasts
  • Have picnics instead of eating in restaurants
  • Make lunch your main meal of the day, when prices are cheaper
  • Stay in business hotels on weekends when there are often lower room rates and restaurant deals.
  • Try using other means of transport, like buses and trains, instead of Taxi’s which are known to be expensive.
  • If you are travelling by air, buy your tickets in the middle of the week, it works out a lot cheaper.
  • Always exchange your money at a bank and not at an airport.
  • Explore street traders and informal souvenir outlets to find some really different and unique gifts whilst on your travels.
