Adventure Escapades Congratulates Greg Minaar

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Greg Minaar on his wonderful victory at the first leg of the World Downhill Champs. It was a great win on home soil. For the first time South Africa, Pietermaritzburg played host to the world downhill champs. And man what an exciting and great event it turned out to be. The people of Pietermaritzburg came out in full force to cheer on all the riders, especially their man Greg.

The weekend was full of excitement as riders from all over the world came out to compete and try and take honours at the first leg of the world champs. There were loads of great rides, and well as some intense crashes. Spectators packed the course from the very top all the way to the bottom, cheering the riders as they made their way down the mountain. Each rider pushing themselves and their bikes as hard as humanly possible. It was all very exhilarating and intense, which left us the spectators craving more.

The honours however went to Great Britain’s Tracey Moseley in the ladies race and to South African Greg Minaar who took first spot in a thrilling race, which saw Greg race to the finish line in a time of 3min43.44. As Greg crossed the line in a puff of dust, the crowd went wild cheering and clapping and celebrating with Greg and his team.

It was a fitting result to the event held for the first time on South African soil. The fans where treated to great downhill riding as well as the privilege of watching their man take the number one spot on the podium. This victory will stand Greg in good stead for the rest of the series which will see him travel abroad.

We at adventureescapades would like to wish Greg all the best in the rest of the series.
