White Shark Africa Adventure

White Shark Africa have been successfully building healthy and respectful relationships between sharks and humans since 1995. Their shark interaction packages have become increasingly popular and their pursuits are backed by their avid participation in shark research.

White Shark Africa gives you the opportunity to see sharks from an entirely different perspective. These experiences are varied and custom designed to snugly fit different clients needs.

A trip they have available at the moment for students is an educational program. The students have a great time being part of the tagging and research activities. Eight students can be accommodated at the time. They get to work not only with the great White shark but also with many other interesting species of sharks swimming in our South African Waters. They get to tag sex and size the shark and physically get their hands wet. They learn different shark identification measures, conservation, shark handling, and much much more.

You can book you package with White Shark Africa today!

Adventures at the Beach

Our gorgeous South Africa launched the Blue Flag programme in 2001 and we will celebrate ten years of the benefits of this programme in November 2011. Since it is high summer right now we have decided not to wait for November, grab your surfing gear, snorkels and sun tan lotion and soak up some cool surf and soft sand. This is a great time of year to celebrate our beautiful beaches daily.

South African beaches that have achieved Blue Flag status are named below;
MacDougall’s Bay, Port Nolloth
Yzerfontein Main beach, Yzerfontein
Clifton 4th beach, Cape Town
Camps Bay, Cape Town

Strandfontein beach, Cape Town
Mnandi beach, Cape Town
Bikini beach, Gordon’s Bay

Margate beach

Challenges our beaches face include changes caused by climate change and the effect of land-based pollution on the sea water quality. This is grabbing a lot of attention from WESSA, who we can trust to take the required action wherever possible and head up education programmes to minimise any future ill effects. Our world is precious so as you head out to revel in our bountiful beaches remember the golden rule, leave it as you found it. For water action adventures visit

World Wetlands Day

The 2nd of February each year is World Wetlands Day. Since 1971 in Ramsar, Iran this date has been marked by a celebration of the world’s wetlands. Globally, groups gather together to spread the awareness of the huge value of our wetlands. The 2011 World Wetlands theme is Forests and Wetlands to acknowledge that it is also the UN International Year of Forests.

The slogan for 2011 is 'Forests for Water and Wetlands' a suitable call for us to see the big picture of how our eco-systems interconnect and co-exist to the greatest benefit of mankind and all living creatures. The good health of forests and wetlands help prevent floods and also act as feeder systems for our river systems, which provide the water resources that humans need for agriculture, industry and urban domestic use.

If you are in the Western Cape, Two Oceans Aquarium's Environmental Education Department is holding an exciting competition during the month of February. All school goers from Grade 1 to Grade 12 who visit the Aquarium in February as part of a school group can enter. The prize is a year’s free membership to the Two Oceans Aquarium!

To book your group visit to Two Oceans Aquarium you can contact them here. For others activities in your area visit
